Launched in January 2017, Stand Up Republic (SUR), a 501(c)(4) grassroots organization, is a cross-partisan leader in the movement to protect and strengthen American democracy. Leveraging its national and state-based media and grassroots capabilities, SUR conducts advocacy, issue and candidate-related campaigns across the country to advance:
Reporting to the Project Manager, interns assist in all aspects of the SUR’s activities. SUR is a dynamic organization engaged in critical work to strengthen American democracy in this time of challenge. As such, this internship is an opportunity to gain broad, hands-on political experience and knowledge.
Assisting strategic planning
Overseeing administrative operations
Contributing to content creation
Managing member engagement
Attending relevant congressional hearings
SUR is seeking intern candidates who are currently enrolled in a Washington, DC area college or University or who are involved in a D.C. semester program with a University outside of D.C. Candidates must have volunteer, professional or coursework experience with American politics. Strong candidates are self-starters and able to manage a variety of concurrent projects related to communications, administrative operations, grassroots, development, and more. Interns will work closely with senior staff in all areas of the organization. SUR Interns receive a monthly stipend.
