Stand Up Republic Releases New Ad, “Dictators”

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to Monday’s disastrous summit in Helsinki between President Donald Trump and Russian president Vladimir Putin, Stand Up Republic released a new ad calling attention to President Trump’s open admiration of foreign dictators.

The ad, titled “Dictators,” will run tonight during primetime programming on both Fox News and MSNBC in the Washington, D.C. market and across digital platforms. It will highlight President Trump’s affection for authoritarian regimes around the globe and call for a return to America’s historic position as the world’s foremost defender of liberty.

“President Trump’s damaging summit in Helsinki was a disaster for America, its allies, and its standing in the world. Donald Trump has always been clear about his fondness for dictators and strongmen, but his consistent alignment with Putin puts essential American interests at risk,” said Stand Up Republic co-founder Evan McMullin. “Especially in light of special counsel Robert Mueller’s Friday indictment of Russian military intelligence operatives for direct interference in our electoral process, the summit made additionally clear the President’s willingness to excuse and cover for Putin’s aggression no matter the cost to the nation.”

Mindy Finn, Stand Up Republic co-founder, stated: “In the face of incontrovertible evidence that the Kremlin waged information warfare against our nation during the 2016 election, the President has refused to consistently back America’s intelligence community assessment over Putin’s word.”

“The contrast between Trump’s deferential conduct toward the Russian president and his disgraceful, boorish, and confrontational behavior toward America’s closest democratic allies last week reflects a stunning negligence of our national security interests, and demonstrates a clear sympathy for dictators that is unprecedented in American presidential history.”

McMullin added, “So long as this ‘Trump First’ foreign policy is in place, enemies, competitors, and opportunists will be emboldened to pursue their narrow interests at our expense and at the expense of the free world.”

Lesson 4: Why conspiracy theories work. As complex conspiracy narratives like QAnon gain popularity, we too often dismiss their importance and broad appeal — and misunderstand why they resonate.
